Sickness:

Health and safety are a priority for First Family Academy.  In an effort to minimize the spread of illness, the academy will abide by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment standards for exclusion.  All parents will have to sign an acknowledgement of this policy at the time of enrollment.  A child should be symptom free for 24 hours of any contagious illness such as rashes, fever, vomiting, dysentery, or pink eye.  Should you feel that your child is not contagious with one or more of these symptoms; the parent will be asked to get a doctor’s note stating that the child is not contagious and may return to school.  Please contact the school immediately if your child is diagnosed with a communicable disease.

Medication:

Medication may be administered while your child is in attendance.  Please note the following guidelines:

  • You must fill out a form giving the academy permission to give your child medication, sunscreen, lip balm, etc.
  • First Family Academy can only administer medication according to the prescribed dosages on the package.  A doctor’s note must be provided should alternate dosages be mandated.
  • Medication must be in its original container.  Do not send medication in zip lock bags, pill boxes, etc.

Visitors:

All visitors should report immediately to the front desk.  Visitors will be required to show ID and sign in/out of a visitor’s log.  Furthermore, each visitor will be required to wear a “Visitor” badge during the entire time they are within the facility.

Nutrition:

Nutrition is also a priority for First Family Academy.  While in attendance, your child will have access to healthy breakfasts, lunches, and snacks.  Monthly menus will be posted in your child’s classroom and made available to the parents for take-home use.  While nutrition is very important to each child, as educators, we have also made it a part of the curriculum so as to create healthy eating habits in each child.

Allergies:

Should your child have any known allergies, it is imperative that you notify the academy immediately.  Please note: we are a peanut-free environment.
Should your child be a “picky” eater or specific foods violate personal religious requirements, it is the parent’s responsibility to supply your child with a healthy alternative.

Service Projects:

With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.
Ephesians 6: 7-8

If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through
Jesus Christ, to who belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
1 Peter 4: 11

Children are taught the importance of serving others through service projects.  Our world wide mission focus will be collecting teddy bears and school supplies for the children in South Africa.  A second project will also be done such as collecting food for Thanksgiving baskets.  Further, each class will be involved in smaller projects throughout the school year such as making cards for a sick child.
