School of Music at First Family Academy

Parents of First Family Academy:

My name is Stephanie Hunter, and I will be the new music teacher here at First Family Academy!  I am a native Oklahoman, but have lived in the Atlanta, Georgia metro for the past 10 years.  I helped create a music program for a school in Alpharetta, Georgia, and taught music there for the past 6 years.  I created some great relationships and hope to do the same here at First Family Academy!  J  

My philosophy in music is simple:  ALL children can learn music and learn THROUGH music.  I believe children learn best in a group setting, as it allows me to do more with them and gives them the opportunity to learn an abundance of music concepts that would not be possible in a one-on-one lesson.  For the preschool children, I will be offering group instruction.  We will have circle time, sing familiar songs, dance, move, play simple rhythm instruments, and HAVE FUN!  Children of this age learn best through play, and that’s where my focus is during this music time.  For the elementary aged children, I will offer group class instruction versus the individual lessons your child may have had in the past.  Attention span is something that grows with us as we age (most of us, anyway! J ) and during this early time in a child’s education, group instruction will provide the most benefit for your child’s musical journey.
